“I’ve always had a rebellious spirit and a curious mind. Being a renegade has served me well. It’s helped me question and change systems that held back progress or expand opportunities everywhere I landed. I’m not confined by what I see; I am called toward what I can create, even if it doesn’t exist, maybe especially so.” explains home industry leader Nicolette Lara.

A self-described responsible rebel, Lara got her start in the year 2000 in fashion and design firm startups. Needing to wear multiple hats, she learned the foundational skills of strategic thinking, identifying brand opportunities, creating brands, and all the facets of the design process.

“I quickly learned to take a 360-degree approach to everything, and company heads trusted me with a lot of responsibility at a young age.”

Decades later, she still meticulously applies those abilities to her veteran roles in the home space. These days her most commonly worn hats are that of creative director and brand developer.

“I am passionate about what I do. When I first arrived to the home industry, innovation had been limited to basics and obnoxious classic looks. The industry was on the verge of creative evolution, having experienced the tragedy of 911. That was an exciting time to be in the home space; it was truly the blossoming of the industry as we know it today. My job then and now was to understand the market and design not just for the moment but for the way we live and the story we want to tell in our spaces.” 

In recent years, Lara has expanded her entrepreneurial pursuits into the digital realm, utilizing generative AI to transform and enhance the design process across branding, fashion, and interiors. Beyond her design expertise, she is also a skilled perfumer, dedicated wellness practitioner, and knowledgeable astrologer.
